The Problem with Fingerprints and ID Cards We
want parents to understand the difference between old-fashioned child ID cards
or fingerprints and the SKIP Digital ID Program so they can make an informed decision about the safety of their children. Modern
problems require modern solutions. Fingerprints
and ID cards are an old-fashioned way of dealing with a modern problem. Child
ID cards and fingerprints do not take advantage of the newest technology that
is available to bring kids home safely…and quickly. SKIP offers
computerized technology for returning children as quickly as possible: a
digital computer disk! The first three hours are the most critical in the recovery of a missing child. SKIP allows for the quick transfer of child information to the police for an Amber Alert. If
the parent gives the ID card to the child and he loses it at the park, the
child's picture and personal information such as name, address, etc. can fall
into the hands of pedophiles. We
are strongly against anyone maintaining data on children, especially if they
are not police officers that have passed thorough criminal background checks.
Commercial companies have no business keeping your child’s
pictures or data. Parents
cannot update child ID cards or fingerprints at home.
Nor can they update their child’s pictures with an ID card.
With the SKIP disk, the parents are encouraged to update the
child's physical information child every 6 months since kids grow so fast.
Once they have a SKIP disk, they can update it until the child is
30 if they want to! Most importantly, parents can create, print and email Missing Child Posters with the SKIP disk. If your child goes missing, you can email the poster to police, local media such as television and radio stations and family and friends.
